@RichM: A bright fresh day [minus 5] left Storey arms down to bridge over river up track which was snow covered to ridge. Very strong easterly wind was blowing the snow into drifts [estimated 30mph so wind chill - 15c] brief stop for extra layers [glad I got new coat] and on over corn du to Pen y Fan where vis dropped to 15mtrs in hill fog. Quick photo shoot then descended taking path contouring under corn du and across valley back to Storey Arms on northern route.
@JonnyC: Pleasant stroll accross Black Down from Burrington Combe pasing the tops of the twin brooks. Very chilly and a little icy, freezing fog kept dancing over the top.
Attempt at murlis loop led to an argument between suit and anatomy, defeated by No Picnic tube @JonnyC: A pleasant trip down Rod's into Bath on a cold an clear evening on Mendip. We headed down into Rod's with my route memory letting me down a little, but once on the trail it soon came flooding back. Rich had a plan to see if I could squeeze through The Murlis Loop, so we ducked through the archway at the end of Rod's main chamber and soon started ascending Eyeball Aven, this was a little tough ...
Digging @RichM: Trip to the dig in Bath, went down bottom of dig head first, interesting manouver trurning round. Digging out goo 18" deep puddle soon formed not draining not drafting - much debate do we rest it, bang it or abandon it??
Stretcher hauling Black Cat chamber @RichM: Rigged stretcher haul in Black Cat from front up onto rock bridge lowered back down, then back up across bridge and then lowered out of far side and across chamber to the floor. I did a micro teach on body recovery.
@RichM: Evening trip to climbing centre. Number of top roped 4, 5 a, b & c. Lead climb on 5a. Need to do some more regular climbs to strengthen left arm and fingers & get more confidence on leading. Good impromptu evening's fun, got thrown out as they wanted to close!
Bolting Black Cat chamber @RichM: Trip into Black Cat Chamber in Gough's, practiced jamming, abseiling, rigging & bolting including traverses, natural anchors, expanding bolts, deviations. Replaced all old anchors and hardware. Fantastic refresher and confidence builder.
Digging @RichM: Normal sunday digging team, made a mix of cement whilst AN built a retaining wall we moved spoil up the rift to create more space and did some more digging - quite promising trickle of water running and easy digging. Tired on way out as third venture underground in two days
Digging @RichM: Large group doing through trip Rods - Bath. I entered Bath with JVP rigged the pitches and made way through connection & purple pot to Rods, met up with rest of party, led two others up hanging death and did Murleys loop, none of rest of party could be enticed [reflective moment in there as this was the last trip night before CVE to make the connection] continued on to pots then back to main chamber. Visited the bear pit then followed group back down purple pot de rigging and up into ...
@RichM: A bright fresh start saw us set out from Shipham up past the old quarry, negotiating a herd of cows and bull to warrens hill, up past Tynings Farm onto Blackdown across the top and return via the forest tracks.
