Showing 10 of 306 logs from Tue 12 Apr 2011 to Fri 27 May 11 for @JonnyC
Great trip into Tynings to sump and white dog passage @JonnyC: I was pleased when Rich proposed caving on Friday to make up for the fact that other commitments were preventing us doing so on the Thursday. He suggested Tyning's Barrows Swallet to which I was keen but ran out of time to research. Ros collected the keys and met us in the layby. We headed down the double ladder pitch into the entrance, and followed on down past Griffin Inlet, we walked on down past Sheeps Jaw and Paton Place with a d ...
All around Reservoir Hole @RichM: JC claims presence on this trip, purely for log book purposes, must put right @RichM: A complete trip around all aspects of reservoir hole to see the fine formations, impresive rifts and check out the latest dig site. A very enjoyable social trip.
JC Led a very nervous virgin into Goatchurch, masses of management and reasurance, and an early retreat, good experience had @JonnyC: An unsure adventure for Kev, starting with a quick visit into Aveline's hole, followed by a wander up to Goatchurch. Kev felt slightly uncomfortable at Giant's Steps but pushed on regardless for a quick break at the top of the coal chute before ascending the tradesman's (handlined). Caving is not for Kev, but he enjoyed the trip regardless, must pick up some stati ...
Sticking our heads in a bunch of caves @JonnyC: A trip up through the valley from the lower CP to stick our heads in a few caves we have not seen before. We wandered past aveline's due to repeated visits in the past, and headed straight up to Goon's Hole. I made a bad decision up front to enter on my back which made the going very tough, at the 'botttom' I could find insufficient room to turn so re-ascended and let rich pass. Rich then indeed disappeared for five minutes to prove that there was f ...
Further explore of Lionels trying to nail the navigation @JonnyC: Our second trip into Lionel's (first for Darren) to see what we could remember. I definately recognised a lot of it, but I think Rich did a little better piecing it all together. From the entrance we took the mid level passage over the boulder into the boulder chamber, from there we started out by exploring the pit. Rich recognised the way on slightly round from the pit, whilst I got caught up by the double stones trying to figure ...
JC led Callum in Goatchurch to water chamber @RichM: Another adventure for Callum in Goatchurch on a different route than before. Main entrance, giants staircase, "drunken passage", Bloody tight, boulder chamber, water chamber, drain pipe and return up over the coffin lid and out through tradesmans. Saw 3 other groups, Callum did really well and gave Jon & I good leading practice.
Exploration trip in SRM @RichM: A good explore of the intricacies of the mine exploring many of the dead ends and interconecting passages
JC led Andy down into Swildons to head of the twenty @JonnyC: The time was right to progress Andy from Goatchurch, so as an eye opener we decided to show him the wonders of Swildon's. A pleasant trip over the rift, through the zig zags, short dry way, old grotto, wet way to the head of the twenty, then back out via the wet way. Andy was suitably impressed, and did extremely well.
Exploring the North West stream passage. @JonnyC: Nice trip down a fairly dry Swildon's hole, down the wet way, through sump one, the landing and on to North West Stream passage, stopping at the traverse and pitch due to lack of gear. A swift exit via the short dry way. A very nice trip.
@JonnyC: A 24hr geocaching trip accross Woolacombe and Bristol, covering around 20mi walking. Achieved 85 caches in Woolacombe, and a further 17 caches in South Bristol. Beautiful sunny day, great conditions for walking.
