Swildon's short dry, twenty, inclined rift, sump 1 & return via same route, normal water levels - party of 6 @JonnyC: Deciding to relive memories of "Cold dips and chilly showers - April 2015" where KC & CC successfully (albeit slowly) tackled Sump One and to push a little bit further from "What an adventure! - 9 Jul 2022" where AC took his first steps into Swildon's Hole, a trip was (eventually) organised to also give NK her first trip of this amazing cave. Due to the nature of the party, progress ...
Fab day with mixed weather and gusty winds on the Gloucester & Sharpness canal
Older kiddies trip to experience the drainpipe @JonnyC: Leaving the two youngest ones behind to ensure we could move through the cave a little quicker to get the older ones down to the drainpipe. We had a fun and swift trip in, but the drainpipe left energy reserves a little low to go and play in the maze. In through the main, bloody tight, coffin lid, drainpipe, returning via the terrace and out through an unassisted tradesmans. Great trip.
A family cycle to Portishead ad back for a picnic. @JonnyC: With restrictions lifted a little, we took the opportunity to meet as two households for some outdoor exercise, a lovely cycle to Portishead from Kyle & Kats place. The weather was gorgeous, and it was great to be out with the family. It was a little tough on the legs and bottoms, but so very worth it. 40km (25 miles)
Our annual family camp, but unfortunately Callum could not make it, despite Kyle managing to find a spot near the sea!
Indoor climbing session at Redpoint with Kyle
Back at red point completing some new set routes and working on a a very slopper based climb.
long bouldering session with some friends, working on tidying up some previous completed routes and tackling the crux's of some unfinished projects. @Kyle: arriving at around 3:30 pm for my third climb, Deans second and Georges first we signed in and we took a walk round showing George the layout of the centre. booted and ready to go we moved to the traverse wall to warm up and then into the upper boulder chamber to finish stretching. Suffering from some pretty serious blisters due to soft baby han ...
my first attempt at surfing fairly small waves, easy for a beginners like my self. once finished moved on to a small bouldering session on the sea front. @Kyle: Had this trip in mind for a few weeks prior to going, just finding time out of my busy uni schedule was a tad difficult, however managed to squeeze it in on a Sunday after a heavy weekend of drinking. Waking at 7 am to begin our 3 hour journey from campus, we left with pain killers to hand and water to sooth our hangovers. Fortunately for us ...
A straightforward trip leading two through box @JonnyC: Delivering on a previous promise we headed to box, parking in the lay by. After a swift return for the maps we headed over the field to Jack's, found it easily, and discovered a makeshift repair on the broken Gate. We headed in and immediately started picking our way to the north, showing KC and CC the wonders of Box along the way. Navigating by map came quite easily tonight albeit after a brief stop at 4 ways, we headed off to the nor ...
